Review: Diablo 3

It's easy to dismiss Diablo as mindlessly simplistic, especially if you limit your sample go to just a few minutes' combat from the beginning of the story campaign. However, once you get past the initial stages and the screen is littered with a suitable number of corpses, you can then go about hoovering up dropped gold, weapons, and clothing. Like the Lego games, the most addictive element of Diablo III is collecting stuff.

Controlling your character directly almost makes the game feel more like a clunkier version of old school God Of War than a real Diablo game. Although, perhaps the most tempting compromise is the Lego movie games. It's not that anything doesn't work; just that all the many abilities and weapons have been specifically designed with the assumption you'd be able to point and click exactly where you want to use them.

The obvious problem with the gamepad controls is that they're much less precise than when using a mouse. This makes it difficult to navigate the world of Sanctuary with the same level of accuracy as you would with a keyboard and mouse setup. Despite this, Diablo III still manages to capture the essence of the original games, providing an engaging experience for both new and veteran players.

In conclusion, while the gamepad controls may not be ideal, Diablo III remains an enjoyable action RPG that is sure to satisfy fans of the genre. With its addictive loot system and engaging combat mechanics, it's a must-play for anyone looking for a fun gaming experience.
