IOS 16.4.1 arrived on April 7th, bringing a plethora of bug and security fixes to iPhone users. One of the notable updates is the Rapid Security Response (RSR) system, which allows Apple to patch security vulnerabilities quickly without waiting for a larger version release. This update requires the iPhone to shut down and restart, taking approximately 85.2MB.

This was the first time Apple utilized the RSR system on a regular public release. The ability to release these updates means Apple can address security issues promptly, rather than waiting weeks for testing.

IOS 16.5 includes an impressive 40 security updates across all aspects of the system, covering everything from the Weather app to the cellular modem. Moreover, the update fixes three WebKit flaws that have been actively exploited, two of which were addressed in the earlier iOS 16.4.1(a) RSR update.

In addition to security patches, this update addresses several issues:

• Fixes for Screen Time settings resetting or not syncing across all devices

• Resolves issue with Podcasts in CarPlay not loading content

• Corrects problem where Spotlight may become unresponsive

• Introduces a new Sports tab in Apple News and My Sports score and schedule cards linking to specific games

Furthermore, iOS 16.5 brings forth some exciting features:

• A new Pride Celebration wallpaper for the Lock Screen honoring the LGBTQ+ community and culture

• Siri now enables users to start screen recording with the simple command: 'Hey Siri, start a screen recording'

• The TV App gains a new 'multi-view' sports feature with a Sports tab at the bottom of the screen
